LDE is a widely respected company
providing structural, civil, geotechnical and geological
engineering services throughout the northern half of the
North Island, ranging from Hawkes Bay and Gisborne
through to the Bay of Islands and north.
The company is seeking an Intermediate/Senior
Geotechnical Engineer for exciting range of projects,
including multi level buildings, bridges, dams, and
large subdivisions (e.g. 300 lots) You will be based in
the buzzing beach city of Gisborne, but will be able to
travel through the country for work when required. Work
will involve;
• Foundation investigations for small to large buildings
and bridges
• Retaining wall investigations and design
• Large subdivisions in complex terrain
• Slope stability investigations and remediation
Not essential but experience in the following would be
useful:
• Civil and structural engineering
• Contract drawings for contractors
• Project management
• Roading / pavement design
• Effluent disposal system evaluations and design
• Earthworks testing and supervision
• AutoCAD
• Drafting
The technical competencies essential to this position
are:
• Bachelor of Engineering (Civil/geotechnical)
• Minimum of 8 years experience in geotechnical
engineering
• Chartered Professional Engineer status, MIPENZ (note:
we will also consider applicants if they are in the
process of obtaining this, but lower remuneration)
• Strong technical and analytical skills
The responsibilities associated with this role include:
• Responsibility for investigation, design,
organisation, supervision and interpretive reporting on
various geotechnical projects
• Analysis using proprietary software
• Design work such as foundations, building structures,
slip stabilisation & remedial works, geogrid reinforced
fill, retaining structures, and ground improvement
• Maintaining existing client relations and developing
new business
• Taking the role of design team leader on projects
• Managing the delivery of projects, managing staff
resources to meet workloads
• Ensuring that technical checks and reviews of designs
are carried out
• Assisting with professional development of junior
staff
