CPEng Geotechnical Engineer - Gisborne

LDE has positions available for CPEng Geotechnical Engineers to manage site investigations for new projects, commercial buildings, bridges, and large subdivisions nationwide. You will also complete site investigations for slope stability investigations and landslide stabilisation.

Your choice of locations include the buzzing beach city of Gisborne with its outdoor life style but will be able to travel through the country for work when required.

Work will involve:
• Foundation design and evaluation for small to large buildings and bridges
• Retaining wall design and evaluation
• Large subdivisions in complex terrain
• Data analysis and recommendations

Experience in the following would be useful:
• Civil and structural engineering
• Contract drawings for contractors
• Project management
• Roading / pavement design
• Effluent disposal system evaluations and design
• Earthworks testing and supervision
• AutoCAD
• Drafting

The technical competencies essential to this position are:
• Bachelor of Engineering (Civil/geotechnical)
• Minimum of 8 years experience in geotechnical engineering
• Chartered Professional Engineer status, MIPENZ
• Strong technical and analytical skills

The responsibilities associated with this role include:
• Responsible for carrying out, overseeing and evaluation of investigations, design, and interpretive reporting on various geotechnical projects
• Determining of workscope, methodologies and deliverables with options to meet client expectations
• Design work such as foundations, building structures, slip stabilisation & remedial works, geogrid reinforced fill, retaining structures, and ground improvement
• Maintaining existing client relations and developing new business
• Taking the role of design team leader on projects
• Managing the delivery of projects, managing staff resources to meet workloads
• Ensuring that technical checks and reviews of designs are carried out
• Supporting the principal in all technical areas including professional development of junior staff
